A performing arts high school prepares individuals for a lifelong involvement in artistic and scholastic pursuits.  My design intent is to create a space that encourages students to want to come to school to learn and to grow as artists.  I want to give them creative freedom that I never had.  The environment will be captivating and inspiring to engage students in the learning process.  There will be pops of bright colors, open spaces, natural light, and comfortable furniture.  I will create rooms that allow students flexibility to move, collaborate and express themselves in creative ways.  I want there to be movement represented in the design of the school as well.  Motion is in the arts-the movement of the dancers, the rhythm of the music, and the motions evoked by the theater. The use of lines, shapes and forms and artificial and natural night will aid in expressing these ideas of motion.
